We've had rain the last few days, actually a little snow yesterday, and the river is running high.

A Fall Walk
Took a nice walk today down to the river. The Fall colors brightened the landscape.
Hawk or Falcon?
We saw this beautiful bird of prey on a walk through our property this afternoon. I'm not sure if it's a hawk or a falcon. If you have suggestions, let me know. He had caught something and was perched on a stake in the ground, and flying back and forth to a spot on the ground about 20 feet away where it seemed he was eating something. As we got closer he flew to some taller trees nearby.

Turkeys
October 29, 2011 An early snowstorm hit the east coast. We just got the southern tip with some snow falling, but no accumulation. In the morning, before it started snowing, there were some turkeys in the backyard.

Bunny
Saw this bunny in our backyard in the morning and shortly after this I was chasing my beagle, Lucky, all over the neighborhood as he hunted for rabbits.

A wildlife kind of day
A lot of activity in our yard today. What I think is a barn swallow has built a nest near our front door, another bird has built a nest in our newspaper box, we saw our Groundhog with two little ones following behind her, then a fox strolled through the back yard. Right around dusk we saw 5 deer frolicking in the field beside the house.
Foxy
This fox (or others that look just like it) has been skulking around the edges of our property lately. We are worried about him coming after our dogs, but here it looks like he has flushed out a bird.

Baby Bunny
When I was bringing Lucky back in from his walk last night, he pulled over to the little garden in front of our house. He snooped around under a bush and came out with a mouth full of fur. Tim came out and checked into it. I thought he had caught an animal or something, but what was in his mouth was a big puff of fur from a bunny nest. There was a tiny baby bunny crawling near the nest back toward it's home. Tim gently put it back in the nest and covered it back up.
We were worried that the mommy might not come back or would abandon it since we had touched it. I looked up some information on line and found that rabbits commonly leave their nest alone all day and come back to feed the babies only at night. They do this so they don't call attention to the nest to predators. Two days later, the baby was gone. We like to think that the Mom moved it to a safer location.
